Anti-Marriage equality group advertisment tries to confuse a simple subject

Marriage Equality is simple

 

The (anti) Marriage Alliance is an anti-gay hate group, opposed to ending the discrimination of homosexuals. They aired an advertisement on Foxtel that was offensive and should never have reached the innocent viewers.

This advertisement showed an iceberg with the words same sex marriage (not marriage equality) on the top, the implication being that same sex marriage has hidden dangers.
There are actually two very similar advertisements, and i am addressing both here.

It asked how marriage equality would effect;
sex education in schools
children
or even what rights you would lose

It goes on to say;
Changing the meaning of marriage has untended consequences.
Same sex marriage is not as simple as you think. 

 Lets just examine the points here quickly, this is noting new really the same old nonsense.

Sex education:

Does sex education is schools even cover marriage, i don't remember my classes doing so. If is does then surely that is a matter for the school curriculum boards to consider. However i can solve the problem rather easily the class could just say, marriage is a union between two consenting adults who love each other. That's rather simple.

Children:

Marriage equality will not change the legal age for marriage! Children of same sex couple will be better off because there parents relationship will be recognized as equal by society and under the law. Children of same sex couples will experience less bullying and discrimination as bigoted views will not be enshrined in law. Children that are gay or lesbian will grow up in a society where they know their relationships are as valued and respected as their straight classmates, thus they will experience less bulling, less depression and youth suicide numbers should even come down.
That's really simple, and no body loses.

The rights you would lose:

Well if that's not a loaded statement, i don't know what is, careful (anti) marriage Alliance, your bigotry is showing.
You wont lose any rights, no one is going to force anyone to marry anyone else. Same sex marriage is not going to be compulsory. Straight people will still have the same rights to marry as they always have, its just allowing gay people those same rights.
It really can not get any more simple.  

Changing the meaning of marriage has untended consequences.

Another loaded statement, stating their bigoted opinion as fact. I cant see any unintended consequences, and i cant even conceive of any. Its obvious they cant as well, or they would have had some examples.
No one is changing the meaning of marriage, its going to mean the same thing, you meet someone, you fall in love you get married and live happily ever after.

 Same sex marriage is not as simple as you think. 

Well that's an over generalization, they don't know how i think. Also the comment is so very wrong, marriage equality is simple.

 The legislation would just change the law, that the Howard government made discriminatory to bring it in line with our constitution and our non-barbaric culture.

So their points are all nonsense, its the same boring old bigotry. Though this time there being a little sneaky, they must realise their homophobic views are no longer considered acceptable in our civilised society so they simply imply danger and make vague misleading comments.
They claim to want a debate on marriage equality, yet they seem to peddle the same hyperbole and bigoted rhetoric as every other anti-marriage, gay hate group. There website seems to be trying to keep up the facade but if you look at their Facebook page it becomes abundantly clear which side of history this group is on. What possible debate can we have when one side is so filled with hate and so disingenuous. 
What debate do we even need to make marriage legislation non discriminatory and constitutional.

I call BS on this advertisement and their feigned concern, their questions could have easily been answered with a simple internet search. 
No they instead spend money on this hate campaign. Money that could have gone to anti-bulling, pro-marriage, anti- domestic abuse, feeding the homeless or any other good cause, it saddens me deeply.

If anyone is legitimately concerned or confused by marriage equality there are actually real websites that can help; i am not affiliated with them in any way but they are the logical go to resource for pro-marriage information.

I love anal

Loving anal is not offensive

On Q&A they have viewers twitter comments on the screen as the panelists discuss various issues. The show is quite sensible and unbiased which has brought it under fire from Tony Abbot, the Liberal party and the radical right commentators.

The tweet was inoffensive enough, but people have attacked the show and the ABC, abut the tag Abbottlovesanal. The iview version has since been edited to remove the tag, so much for free speech. Seems like free speech is only an issue when victims of hate speech complain...

Now the correct response would be to perhaps check the tags a little better. Abbot i suppose could come out and say that he does or does not love anal. 

Where was the out cry when Q&A allowed a panelist to spout hate speech?

Where was the outcry when the ABC allowed a guest to spout hate speech.?

Both were far more offensive than saying someone enjoys anal sex!

But to say loving anal is offensive and inappropriate is in itself offensive and inappropriate! While we know that many straight people enjoy anal sex, we have to admit that most practitioners of anal sex are probably gay. 

Being gay is not an insult, enjoying anal sex is not an insult!

The slaying of Cecil was tragic, lets do something.

A coward and a lion

If the world needed another reason for strict gun laws they got one with Walter Palmer, the American dentist who killed the Cecil the lion.

It is said that the guides Walter hired to enable him to kill a lion, dragged a carcass behind their car in order to lead Cecil out of the safety of the national park. Cecil was then shot with a bow and hounded for 40 hours before being shot dead. It didn't end there for Cecil, he was skinned and beheaded.  

Cecil was well known in the park and even wore a tracking collar as he was part of a  Wildlife Conservation Research project from Oxford University. He was relatively tame and had little fear of humans, allowing them to approach and photograph him often.

Walter Palmer  a Minnesota dentist claimed he didn't realise the "hunt" was illegal. If that is true then it is truly frightening that someone of such low perceptive ability, intelligence or common sense, could have access to firearms.

But Walter Palmer is a repeat offender, he has killed many wild animals, some of which i have used pictures of in this blog. It has been revealed that Walter Palmer illegally killed a black bear in 2009, pleaded and was let off with a slap on the wrist, and somehow was still allowed to use firearms.

The other poaches who participated in killing Cecil have been prosecuted, and i have read that Walter Palmer may face extradition. He has a lot of money though so he may be able to buy his way out of it, we have too keep an eye on this, to ensure justice is done.

Sadly due to the Death of Cecil one of his cubs has been killed by a new pride leader. We hope this death is added to Walter Palmer's charges.

On a personal note, i would like you to remember how you felt about this story, about the callous and unnecessary killing of Cecil. Because that is how some vegetarians and vegans feel about all animals. So next time you see someone vilifying, teasing, being aggressive to someone who chooses not to kill animals needlessly, please remember that we are not that much different, and stand up for them.

Vegans and vegetarians get abuse all the time, simply because we choose not to be cruel to animals, if your one of the people that do this, stop, its not funny, (we have probably heard it before) and its not going to make you feel any better about your actions.

Another broken promise

More changes to the GST

Abbot government breaks another election promise by applying more changes to the GST.
The GST was originally introduced in my understanding, as a replacement for all other taxes, while some taxes were abolished a lot still remained.  

Before the election Tony Abbot promised;

 "No cuts to education, no cuts to health, no change to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS,”

 If my memory is correct every one of those promises has now been broken.

Tony Abbot also said in relation to the GST;

"Let me be as categoric as I can. The GST won't change, full stop, end of story."

Recently the Abbot government announced it would remove the $1000 threshold for international GST charges and would like all purchases to include the GST. Though technically, only businesses with a $75,000 Australian turnover would need to comply.

This seems like another unfair attack on the poor, and I can only see this stifling Australia’s economy because it’s not just that we need to shop around in order to get the best price, but for us it is a matter of getting the item we need cheaply or simply not being able to afford it and having to go without.  Again the government’s policies show an uneven bias in favor of the rich. 

It also appears to be yet another backwards step, we had the delusion of the national broadband network, the mandatory retention of Meta data, the charging of GST on electronic purchases. It seems to show a government that is out of touch with current Australia’s needs and out of sync with the modern world.

And all those lies and broken promises, we seriously need a truth in election advertising law. I believe this behavior undermines the foundation of our democracy; we need to be able to trust our politicians won’t just say anything to get elected; they have to be legally held accountable to some extent.

Paranormal Hammerlock

 It’s time for another spooky tale of the paranormal kind. This is a true story it happened to me yesterday (16/08/2025).

It began Sunday evening as I was washing up, beside my sink there is a door to the sleepout or sunroom, and it’s kind of like a veranda that has windows on all the outside facing walls. At the moment the sunroom is used for storage. So anyway I am standing there washing up and I am startled by knocking on this door! You have to understand that the only other door to this room is in my bedroom and it isn’t used, it actually has furniture placed on both sides. The house is on stilts and the windows out of reach and closed.

So I hear this knocking and I look at the door, which is about a meter from me. I think it must be echoing strangely and I go check the front and back doors, which are both locked and no one is there. I check next doors drive way and they are not home, besides it was too loud to be from them. So I go back to the kitchen, I am standing at the door to the sleepout and I reach out my hand, wondering if I really want to open the door. , And it comes again five loud knocks, this time see the door move, I flinch back my right hand that was just about to grab the door handle. I consider again if I want to open the door, instead I say “no one is home, you can’t come in” at the door and go into the lounge room to play some second son on the PS4.

That night I had trouble sleeping again, I do suffer from insomnia, but I have also been under a lot of stress due to my boyfriend of almost 4 years dumping me for another guy. So sleep didn’t come easy and when it did, it seemed I woke almost instantly.
Eventually I must have gotten to sleep because I awoke lying on my stomach with my head facing the bedroom door. I looked and listened for a momentarily to determine what if anything had woken me up.

THE BEDROOM DOOR TO THE SLEEPOUT

That’s when I noticed my right arm, laying at my side, it moved. I thought for a second it might be a spasm, or maybe my arm was asleep, as it felt very strange. It wasn’t asleep though, it moved again, awkwardly. It’s difficult to explain, I am lying there and I am watching my arm lift off the bed. I didn’t take notice at the time but the covers had been pulled away from my right arm and back. My arm moves again it looks like it’s being lifted and manipulated by unseen hands, I am thinking I am having some kind of seizure or something. 

I can actually see the skin moving as my arm moves.As the pressure tightens i can actually feel hands and fingers, the hardest being on my bicep, the thumb pressing deep into my skin.

Then my arm is lifted and twisted more, and I realize My arm is actually being twisted around and behind my back, in like a hammerhold, a restraining move, like the police do. 

I lash out with my mind in panic! And it is gone; I am alone in my bedroom again. I quickly rollover, pulling the covers back on me, and I fall soundly asleep.

THE KITCHEN DOOR INTO THE SLEEPOUT

This was not the old hag, I have only had old hag visits while lying on my back, this was different. Needless to say I cleansed my house and slept a lot better last night. In the mirror this morning i see a bruse where the entitys thumb dug deep into my bicep. 

Its kind of faint and didn't show up too well on camera, but its there, and not in a place that i could have accidentally hit without a convoluted and memorable event.
