Breaking News: Did Hanson say something factual?

Pauline Hanson of the racist OneNation* party has declared that she still doesn’t support equal rights for LGBT Australians, because she mistakenly thinks that giving gay people equal rights would somehow take rights away from her. This of course nonsense and matches her usual uniformed opinion

Its like she has her "whites" only beach where she swims, and there is infinite room, but she doesn't want any "non-whites" on the beach because she thinks it would somehow take away her ability to beach, or redefine what swimming was or something. Its sometimes really difficult to understand this kind of stupid.

Or

It like if she stole a recipe for pancakes from a Pagan group and shared it with all her Christian friends. But then when the Pagans asked her for a copy she refused saying that doing so would be taking pancakes away from her and would lessen her pancake experience.

OR

Its actually exactly like she has the rights to do something that other Australians have had taken away from them through no fault of there own. And she doesn't want them to have the same rights as her because, because i cant even think of a legitimate reason. She has said she is against same-sex people marrying because she doesn't personally need to marry someone of the same sex, but that cant be it really can it? Is she really just petty, selfish and cruel?

Does she think same-sex marriage would be compulsory? Does she think opposite sex marriages would be annulled? Does she believe that couples will be magically sex changed so they would no longer be in opposite sex marriages?
Please Pauline become informed before you speak, there are gullible people who believe what you say at face value. I doubt she even consulted one LGBT group before spouting this nonsense.

When confronted with the documented fact, proven by professionals that the kind of hate speech allowed by a plebiscite on human rights would be damaging to the LGBT community she said, "i don't agree with that"
She really thinks that her uniformed opinion is more important and accurate than actual qualified professional studies.
I knew she was ignorant but this is willfully so. She has the facts presented to her and just says no, as if she can alter the fabric of reality with her obnoxious rebuttal. Well i suppose that fits in well with the other conspiracy theories of OneNation* members. Who voted for this kind of anti-intellectualism?

She also supports the homophobic plebiscite that even if it passed and all that, wouldn’t give equality to LGBT Australians as the LIB/Nats will put in legislation allowing same-sex couples to be legally discriminated against, that’s not equal rights.
She went on, and I kid you not, she went on to say that if LGBT Australians don’t like not having equal rights they should leave Australia.
Is that her solution for everything, does she have shares in passenger liners or something?
I suppose we can get on the same boat as the Asians, Muslims and Aboriginals, oh that’s right it cant be a boat, boats are still bad right?. Does OneNation* believe in the science of aerodynamics? I have my doubts as OneNation* is so anti-science and anti-facts.
It is so ironic that despite the fact that OneNation* supporters want to change our constitution and don't like Australians freedoms and rights, and want to change these things. It is them who say "Australia, love it or leave!" They fail to acknowledge how hypocritical this is. I prefer to love what is right with Australia, and work towards changing those that are not, to make Australia better for everyone. If anyone needs to leave, can it be the racists, and bigots, please?
The amount of exceptions to the One Nation she wants to create grows more every day.

She was sort of right when she said that Australia should stop listening to minority's. But she was right only in that Australia needs to stop listening to OneNation*, as they only got less then 5% of the vote they are a very vocal minority indeed.

But she is wrong because the reason we should stop listening to OneNation* isn't because they are a minority, it is because they spout ignorant, uniformed, bigoted nonsense.

However she did say she would vote yes on equal rights if the plebiscite result was yes, so hey she is right in doing that. I just hope if it comes to that, that it hasn't cost too many LGBT lives.
But before you start checking the ancient texts to see if Hanson being right is a sign of the apocalypse, her reasoning is still wrong.
She shouldn't vote for marriage equality because a popular vote said it was popular (and polls already show that by the way), no she should be fighting for equality, because it is the right thing to do.

Its trash day: Pauline Hanson

Its trash day:

Pauline Hanson

Anyone who has even a passing interest in Australian politics would know who Pauline Hanson is and the outrageously unintelligent things she has said.

She and her far right political party called One Nation, is well know for her dislike of multiculturalism and disdain for refugees.

Pauline's political party has called for gays to be bashed and she herself has said many homophobic things.

She doesn't appear to like science very much and her prejudice has lead to her disliking the idea of LGBT people providing safe and caring homes for children.

Her views could well be argued to be both undemocratic and unconstitutional.

She is well known for her racist views against Asians.

And her views on Australian Aboriginals are seen by most decent folk to be racist.

Pauline is also very against Muslims but due to her ignorance i am not even sure she knows what she is talking about. I think (Its apparently disputed) being Muslim means you follow the religion of Islam, So her views on Muslims (alone) don't make her racist, they make her an Islamophobic bigot who happens to coincidentally be a homophobic racist.

But given all that it is her video directly after the Orlando hate crime terror attack that has really upset common sense Australians. In this video she blames Muslims and Isil (Daesh) for the homophobic attack. She does not mention the victims were gay, she does not mention that it was at a gay club, that it took place during pride.   Worst of all she blames Islam alone and not Homophobia, she doesn't even mention homophobia.
The cause of this hate crime was homophobia, Islam is just another excuse that some bigots use to justify their existing homophobia. Dealing with homophobia will help eliminate all hate crimes no matter what the excuse or attempted justification.
But of course Pauline cant really admit that homophobia is the problem because she herself is an advocate for homophobia.

Instead she uses the deaths of a group of people that she herself has vilified for her own political gain. That is why she is rubbish!

Don't forget Malcolm Turnbull has declared that Australia now has zero tolerance for homophobia. He claims that homophobia is to be condemned everywhere, and yet Pauline Hanson and her One Nation party continue.
Just looking at the One Nation website they still to this day incorrectly claim marriage equality will allow children as young as nine to marry, they claim making the laws secular and constitutional will somehow lead to Islamic law in Australia.
They are for a referendum or plebiscite which is costly, will have negative effects on LGBT people and is unnecessary. They want this vote to only pass if all states and territorys have a majority yes vote.
They try to use the constitution that says our politicians can change the marriage laws (as Howard did in 2004) as a reason that politicians can not change the marriage laws. They fail to mention that the current marriage laws are unconstitutional.
They rant on and on about how politicians shouldn't have the right to do the job we elected them for, and call marriage equality 'clap trap'.

Have some fun with Pauline Hanson and please share your fun with me on social media.

Oklahoma legislates for bigot toilet facilities.

Bigots want bigot only bathrooms!

I addressed the insanity going on in America about transgender people being allowed to go to the toilet unmolested, in my blog on International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia 2016.

In that post i made the ridiculous comment that bigots should have there own public toilets so the rest of us can go to the toilet in peace.

In an incredible demonstration of self parody, Oklahoma state Senate Republican lawmakers have actually passed a law doing just that, in blatant violation of their constitution. No really, schools will have to provide fully functioning separate bathroom facilities, specifically for transphobic students.

I would have thought some counseling for the transphobic students, to help them get over their prejudices would be far more appropriate and cost effective and would help in keeping normal people safe from such bigotry.

I think everyday right thinking Americans are going to have to stand up to these bigots and there flaunting of American rights and freedoms. Vote these bigots out with your vote, call them, tell them you disagree with their bringing in of unconstitutional laws.

I hope they label these facility's accurately.

Maybe have some posters and pamphlets inside about LGBT issues, to inform the bigots of the facts while they do their business.

Coles supporting Barilla

Down, down, ethics are down

A bit of catch up:

"I would never do an advert with a homosexual family.. If the gays don't like it, they can go eat another brand"

Guido Barilla, CEO of Barilla

So of course all right thinking people were outraged and begun a boycott of Barilla. Mr Barilla later came out saying;

“With reference to my statement yesterday, I apologize if my words have generated controversy or misunderstanding, and if they have offended the sensibilities of some people. For clarity, I wish to point out that I have the deepest respect for all persons, without distinction of any kind. I have the utmost respect for homosexuals and for the freedom of expression of everyone. I also said and I repeat that I respect marriages between people of the same sex. Barilla in its advertising has always chosen to represent the family because this is the symbol of hospitality and affection for everyone.”

This forced and insincere ‘apology’ didn’t fool anyone; insulting gays in the last sentence didn’t help at all.
 'Facebook Apology'
Further comments implied lesbians were not real women, and no one should ever piss off the lesbians.
"In the interview I simply wanted to highlight the central role of the woman in the family,"

 Use this on your Facebook

So you’re all caught up, nothing much has changed.

As i am innocently shopping at my local Coles I see this;

Its a large advertisment at the front of coles, i have to walk past this to go into the store. The person on the advertisement is from the band Status Quo who sing the Coles theme song, down down prices are down.
To the average ignorant customer it may just look like an obnoxious advertisement for pasta, but not to the LGBTI customers and those who support us. Its a advertisment against gay marriage, against familys that are inclusive of gays, it says lesbians arnt real women, it supports bigotry homophobia and hate.
It’s sickening, that Coles would support a company that doesn’t consider gay people, family.

What can you do?

Don’t like the Barilla Facebook page.
Like the Boycott Barilla Facebook Page.
Don’t buy Barilla products, take up their challange and "eat someone else s pasta".
Let Coles know you don’t support homophobia and bigotry. You can do this on the Coles Website (you will need a receipt) and on their Facebook.
Let Status Quo know you don’t support homophobia and bigotry, on their own website and on their Facebook page.

Thank you for supporting equality

Update:

In response to my own complaint Coles has said;

"We’ll share your comments with our Merch and Marketing teams for review."

I hope with your support they will remove these advertisements and perhaps their support of Barilla.

Update:

Barilla have replied to this blog post, see their reply here.

The Ghost of Phil Robertson

Sometimes bigots say non bigoted things.

The meme below keeps appearing in my Facebook timeline. It was difficult to know if those posting it were bigots or didn't realised who was on the meme and what it was being used for. Now days there are a lot less bigots on my Facebook, standing up against homophobia will do that, i think those still posting it don't realise its history. I keep explaining it but it wont go away, its like the ghost of Phil Robertson's bigotry is haunting my news feed.
So today we are going to take a look at the man, Phil Robertson (pictured), what he stands for, and why the meme was created.

Phil Robertson

He was born on born April 24, 1946, he kills animals for a living, has a business based on hunting and reality television actor on Duck Dynasty. He was suspended from the A&E program after he revealed his bigeted views, but a backlash from bigoted views caused A&E to reinstate him to the show. If you think that is unacceptable you can contact A&E here.

What he said:

  • "gay men were sent by the devil to tempt us all with their magnificent anuses"
  •  "picking cotton was so fun, black people just couldn't stop singing"
  •  "You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16,"
  •  "Two guys break into an atheist's home. He has a little atheist wife and two little atheist daughters. Two guys break into his home and tie him up in a chair and gag him. Then they take his two daughters in front of him and rape both of them and then shoot them, and they take his wife and then decapitate her head off in front of him and then they can look at him and say, 'Isn't it great that I don't have to worry about being judged? Isn't it great that there's nothing wrong with this? There's no right or wrong, now, is it dude? Then you take a sharp knife and take his manhood and hold it in front of him and say,  Wouldn't it be something if there was something wrong with this? But you're the one who says there is no God, there's no right, there's no wrong, so we're just having fun. We're sick in the head, have a nice day."
  • “I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once,” he said. “Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field … They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.” (this was in relation to the African American civil rights movement).
  •  “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there, Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men. Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
  •   “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

What happened:

A&E suspended Phil for his bigoted comments but due to a huge outpouring of bigots claiming free speech and freedom of religion. A&E reinstated the bigot after only nine days. The bigoted protesters seems to ignore that fact that in America at the time you could be fired for being born gay, they don't seem to be protesting about that at all.
That is when this meme surfaced, while it seems innocent enough, what it is really saying is that Phil's comments are acceptable and even compassionate! I am sure that those who post this meme on my Facebook do not agree with his comments, or that they are in any way acceptable.
We should always remember that your religion should dictate how you behave. Freedom of religion allows others to dictate how they behave based on their religion or moral code. Your religion or beliefs should not not trump anothers rights to freedom or equality.

So would you still post that meme on your Facebook, would you do it if you had gay, vegan, religious or African American friends on Facebook?
